Genuinely Sustainable

At Miss Alstroemeria, sustainability is at the heart of everything we do. By growing in carefully controlled greenhouse conditions, we use every square meter of land as efficiently as possible. Our goal is clear: to produce the highest-quality stems with the lowest possible environmental impact — ultimately without fossil fuels or synthetic crop protection products. We continuously research, test, and invest to move closer to truly sustainable greenhouse cultivation.

Why Alstroemeria Is a Sustainable Choice

  • Grown at an average temperature of 18°C, lower than many other cut flowers.
  • A perennial crop, producing flowers for around five years — reducing replanting and energy use.
  • Green waste remains in the greenhouse as a natural nutrient source.
  • Almost all pest control is biological, using beneficial insects.
  • Energy-efficient LED lighting is used throughout the greenhouse.
  • All irrigation water is captured and reused.

Our main challenge is reducing gas use. Currently, we efficiently convert gas into heat, electricity, and CO₂ through a CHP system, while actively researching fossil-free alternatives.

Long-Lasting Beauty

The most sustainable flower is one that lasts. Alstroemerias are exceptionally strong — with fresh water and a small trim every four days, they stay beautiful for a long time.

What Makes Us Different

We calculate our environmental footprint to keep improving. We use sleeves made from recycled plastic — even though they are more expensive — because we believe in long-term responsibility over short-term gain.

For us, sustainable entrepreneurship means caring for the environment, our people, and the region we call home — today and for future generations.

For Miss Alstroemeria, People simply means taking good care of the people who make it possible to grow a beautiful product every single day. Because sustainable flowers begin with sustainable relationships. We have colleagues that used to have difficulty in finding a job, with help they are able to work at our place. We also work together with refugees to give them in a purpose in the time they wait to get a visa or not.

We are strongly rooted in the community and work together to improve our region.
